Platform Engineering Lead
What kind of Professional/or competencies does this role require:
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 2+ years in a technical leadership role, or strong aspiration for a career path in leadership
• Demonstrated ability to enhance development workflows and tools.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Proficiency in writing technical documentation.
• Relevant Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• If 5+ years of relevant experience and no degree, we’re still willing to interview the candidate
Nice to Have:
• Experience in people management, including supervision or team leadership.
• Prior experience in recruiting, mentoring, and managing technical teams.
• Experience with performance management and career development for engineers.
Skills:
• Advanced proficiency in Java and the Spring Framework.
• Proven experience with AWS (preferred) or other major cloud platforms.
• Strong expertise in containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong foundation in GitOps and modern software delivery pipelines.
• Crossplane, CDK or similar IaC frameworks
Main Duties and Responsibilities for the role:
• Design, implement, and maintain infrastructure as code using Crossplane, CDK, or similar frameworks.
• Lead and contribute to the design and development of large-scale platforms with strong observability and reliability standards.
• Drive the implementation of modern development practices including CI/CD pipelines, source control management, and developer tooling.
• Orchestrate and manage Kubernetes clusters, leveraging your deep understanding of GitOps workflows.
• Champion best practices across the SDLC using tools like GitLab, JIRA, Confluence.
• Troubleshoot and administer complex Kubernetes deployments.
• Create and maintain clear, concise technical documentation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve technical challenges.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership within the team.
• Oversee onboarding requests for the PCI Kube platform, triaging tickets and deploying new systems
• Plan Sprints and work with leadership on the Platform Engineering roadmap
• Help with management and orchestration of on-prem deployment projects
